Roberto Mancini, former Italy coach, has been named the new head coach of the Saudi Arabia national team by the Saudi Football Federation (SAFF). He will leave Riyadh on Monday to sign a contract worth 25 million euros net per year, and will make his debut on the bench on September 8th against Costa Rica.
Mancini made history in Europe and now aims to make history with Saudi Arabia. The team is aiming to win its fourth Asian Cup title at the continental championship in Qatar next year. The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) is heavily investing in its top-flight soccer league, with league champions Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, Al Nassr, and Al Hilal attracting top players.
