The Red Devils attackers displayed an uninspiring performance on Saturday as the club went down 7-6 in penalties in the Community Shield against rivals Manchester City. Marcus Rashford had a terrible outing as he missed one good chance and one absolute sitter in normal time.
United are also dealing with multiple injuries including star forward Rasmus Hojlund and the Danish forward is not expected to take the field before late September. New signing Joshua Zirkzee has already joined the club’s pre-season, however, he will still take some time before making his debut at Old Trafford.
With Erik ten Hag lacking quality attacking options, Daily Star reports that the club could turn to young Brighton forward Ferguson. United, who are known to be long-time admirers of the player, are considering placing a bid worth £50 million (€58m/$50m).
Ferguson dealt with multiple injuries last season as he managed to appear in 36 matches across all competitions where he scored six times and provided one assist.
Along with the Red Devils, Chelsea have also rekindled their interest in the striker and it remains to be seen if the Seagulls would consider selling their young sensation in the ongoing summer window.
