When his contract expires this summer, the France forward is expected to join the Spanish giants on a free transfer. However, former France and Arsenal star Robert Pires believes he should follow in his footsteps and reject Madrid’s offer to move to England.
Pires would rather see the 25-year-old form a fantastic partnership with Egypt sensation Mohamed Salah at Anfield than play alongside Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.
Pires told Le Media Carre: “I’m sorry, Kylian, but you’re not the first player to say no to Real Madrid. I’m not sure what decision he’ll make in the end, but I declined Madrid because I had two other options. I’m sure if I hadn’t had the option of going to Arsenal or Juventus, I would have chosen Real Madrid. That is for sure.
“I’d like to see him in Liverpool. It’s a fantastic family club, with a solid structure, no pressure, and calm fans… And I believe a Salah-Mbappe partnership could be extremely explosive. “I believe he is capable of rejecting Real Madrid.”
Mbappe has denied reports that he has already agreed to join Madrid from PSG this summer, and coach Luis Enrique has not given up hope of convincing him to stay at the French club for at least one more season.
