Arsenal & Chelsea lean eye-watering new Gyokeres asking price

Gyokeres is expected to sign a new contract with Sporting that will include a larger release clause, according to Record. The Portuguese team is hoping to stave off any interest in their 25-year-old free-scoring forward by renewing his current contract with a clause set at €120 million (£103m/$130m).

Gyokeres has been linked to Chelsea and Arsenal in an attempt to bolster their offensive lines, given that the Swede has already racked up 22 goals and 10 assists in the Portuguese top flight this year. Sporting wants to hang on to their talented striker, but they have their eye on Panathinaikos’ Greek forward Fotis Ioannidis as a possible replacement.

While there is currently an international break, the striker has discussed rumors about his future. This week, he said to Fotbollskanalen, “That’s a sign that I’ve performed well.” But since it’s just conjecture, I don’t take it too seriously. It is, of course, enjoyable. Hopefully, this summer. What will happen is not something I know about myself. I have a great time playing at sporting, and I’m not stressed about summer approaching quickly.

Gyokeres will play for Sporting for the remainder of the season in the hopes of leading his team to victory. Sporting leads the table by one point at the moment and has a game in hand over Benfica, who are in second place. Though it’s unclear what will transpire during the summer transfer window, Gyokeres should have no trouble finding supporters if he can continue to score goals like he has this season.
